READP Start-up Workshop in Sarajevo

On Tuesday, 28th September 2021 at the International Centre for Children and Youth there was the Start-up Workshop held that the International Fund for Agricultural Development/IFAD ‘s new, eighth project in Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented at.

Rural Enterprises and Agricultural Development Project/READP will be implemented next five years in the entire area of BiH. By using business plan methodology, business leaders-aggregators in the dominant value chains of fruits, vegetables, MAPs as well as bee-keeping will assist smallholder poor farmers, women and youth market their produce thus raising revenue for their households and improve their living conditions.

Due to restrictions caused by pandemic, the presentation was physically attended by IFAD’s country programme manager for BiH, the Minister of Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry and Project Coordination Unit (PCU)’s director, representatives of APCU from Banja Luka, representatives of some active donors from Sarajevo, BiH municipalities, some leaders and agricultural organisations from both entities, and also IFAD’s sub-regional director and the mission members, a representative of the state Ministry of Finance and Treasury, a representative of RS Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and some donors addressed to the audience via the link who shared their experiences in BiH and challenges they have faced in the implementation of the projects thus giving their contribution with constructive suggestions and discussion.

The presentation of this project will be conducted in the Federation of BiH in the upcoming period by clusters established within an IFAD’s project in BiH.
