Conference of the Regional Council for Berry Fruits of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro held in Sarajevo

On 30th October 2019 in Sarajevo a conference was held of the Regional Council for Berry Fruits of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro attended by the representatives of the regional institutions in charge, experts in agronomy, collectors, farmer associations, raspberry producers from the three countries as well as representatives of international organisations actively operating in the agriculture domain in the region.

The Council was established in July 2019 in Cajetina aiming at joint efforts in enhancing the sector and linking all the stakeholders in the chain as well as their entering the international market together. The objective of this organisation is to improve the situation in the sector in all these three countries through cooperation, exchange of experiences and scientific findings.

By applying quality varieties and agro-technology higher yields will be achieved thus enabling decent earnings for the families dealing with this type of agricultural activities.

The raspberry sector in BiH, due to low prices of less than 1KM per kilogramme in 2018 caused by large importation from Chile to EU, experienced decline of 30%;

This year a big ‘come back’ of raspberry to the market: the price already increased to 2.5KM per kilogramme!
